Brian Kendrick is set to make his Dragon Gate USA debut on September 6th in Chicago at The Congress Theater (tickets & info at www.DGUSA.tv or by calling 267-519-9744). He isn't wasting any time testing himself in the new promotion as he has signed to wrestle Dragon Gate icon CIMA in Chi-town. Kendrick is ready to move on from his WWE days.

"I had some fun in WWE," Kendrick said. "I learned a lot, made some friends. It's a corporation, I am a human. This human didn't fit into the corporation's plans, and that corporation didn't fit with my human side. I had some laughs, but I am awfully happy the ride is over, and I don't want back on."

Kendrick and DGUSA quickly reached a deal for the charismatic superstar's debut match. Kendrick has a long standing relationship with Dragon Gate USA Vice President Gabe Sapolsky. As soon as Sapolsky saw Kendrick was taking bookings he made the call to his old friend. It only took a minute for Kendrick to say "yes" to DGUSA.

"I was excited obviously when I got the call from Dragon Gate USA," Kendrick said. "The thing I love about Dragon Gate is from what I have seen it has its own vibe. It's hip. I get a different feeling when I watch Dragon Gate, it doesn't feel like you're watching wrestling, it feels like you are watching a show. It is similar to Cirque Du Soleil with the colorful costumes and characters with amazing acrobatic skills that leave you amazed. I think it's fresh, a fantastic direction for wrestling to be headed, and I am happy to be apart of it."

The athletic, cutting-edge Dragon Gate USA style is a far departure from what Kendrick was used to in World Wrestling Entertainment. The main difference Kendrick will find will be the locker room. There is no "glass ceiling" or politics in DGUSA. It is a place where wrestlers can perform their art with total freedom. It will be interesting to see how Kendrick adapts to the DGUSA style after years in WWE. In fact, Kendrick doesn't even know what you will see out of him in Chicago on September 6th.

"I am not sure what you can expect," Kendrick said. "I really don't know how I am going to react. I have been trying to perfect a certain style of wrestling for a while and now I have more freedom to experiment. There are certainly aspects of the WWE style that I have learned that I will keep, a lot of what they have to offer in terms of an idea of what a wrestling match should be I have come to agree with, but if you expect me to be satisfied with three minutes of wrestling that is structured to not be especially good, written down and every so often designed to humiliate myself to make old men laugh, well then you can suck my dick. I am going to wrestle the style that pleases me."

Kendrick will definitely have a chance to showcase his athleticism against CIMA, who has held every title in Japan for Dragon Gate. CIMA is known for his technical wrestling and high-impact, innovative moves. For more information on CIMA go to his DGUSA.tv roster page or check out this free video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8dfWnD5iDg

"I have been a fan of CIMA's for years and it's the name that popped in my head when I was offered a match in Chicago so I was delighted when the match against him was purposed," Kendrick said. "I have seen a lot of his work, I love what he does. He is quick, smart, strong and experienced. I haven't been excited about an opponent like this in a long time. Wrestling him will be a first for me and it is something I am looking forward too."

DGUSA and Brian Kendrick look to be a great combination. DGUSA is new, hot and fresh. Kendrick is starting the next chapter of his accomplished career. Anything is possible for Kendrick's future in Dragon Gate USA. There is no telling where things will go from here.

"My future?" Kendrick said. "Who knows? I want to do some camping, play some video games, wrestle against guys I want to wrestle where I want to wrestle. Someday open a wrestling school, then sell coconuts and pineapples to passers by out on the Hana Highway. And maybe play with the cats."
