We
know a few things about Open The Freedom Gate Champion BxB Hulk. He's
an athletic, innovative, charismatic wrestler that stands out for his
pre-match dance routine. Now it's time to get to know the face of DGUSA
on a more personal level.
BxB Hulk always wanted to be a professional wrestler. He said that they
just "looked cool to me" growing up. However, before Hulk
pursued his dream he was a member of the Japanese armed forces as a
ranger. This instilled several of the qualities that make Hulk successful
in the ring including discipline, work ethic, toughness and bravery.
Then the time came for Sapporo native to begin training to realize his
ambition of entering the squared circle. He had an impressive athletic
resume with 10 years of being an accomplished baseball player and six
years of martial arts training. Hulk immediately knew the Dragon Gate
Dojo was the right place for him as he just "liked the Dragon Gate
style the most."
The high-flyer and hard-kicker went on to become the second ever graduate
of the Dragon Gate Dojo. From there Hulk developed his memorable ring
entrance, involving dancers. Hulk states that he does this dance routine
because it gets his adrenaline going. He sees it as a way for him and
the fans to get hyped together for the match before the opening bell.
The five-year veteran has captured his first major singles championship
by winning the Open The Freedom Gate Title. He has already proved to
be a fighting champion by immediately putting the belt on the line against
Susumu Yokosuka in Japan, just a week after winning the title in Philadelphia
on November 28th. This also put the strap on the international map.
Hulk raised some eyebrows by defeating the veteran Yokosuka in a very
competitive match.
Now the World-1 member is faced with another Dragon Gate veteran and
one of the most recognizable Dragon Gate figures in Dragon Kid. It will
be Hulk vs. Kid on January 23rd in Chicago at The Congress Theater.
This will be the first Open The Freedom Gate Title defense on pay-per-view.
"I am a very quiet person," Hulk said. "I work very hard
for everything until I reach the goal, even if it takes me years. Right
now my goal is to make the fans proud that I represent Dragon Gate USA
as the champion. I promise my best in Chicago on January 23rd. Dragon
Kid is a very tough opponent. I have a lot of respect for him. I know
this will be a hard match. I look forward to the challenge."
The former 5-time Open The Triangle Gate Champion has risen to become
one of the most popular athletes in Japan. The fans in the United States
are realizing why BxB Hulk can be considered the hottest new star seen
in North America in years. Now you know BxB Hulk.
